Introduction

This wiki is accompanying research and development activities in the TENCompetence project. TENCompetence is a 4-year EU-funded project that will develop a technical and organisational infrastructure for lifelong competence development. The infrastructure will use open-source, standards-based, sustainable and innovative technology. With this freely available infrastructure the European Union aims to boost the European ambitions of competence based, lifelong learning.

TENCompetence will support individuals, groups and organisations in Europe in lifelong competence development by establishing the most appropriate technical and organisational infrastructure, using open-source standards-based, sustainable and innovative technology. The technical infrastructure integrates quite a few software components that were developed by the project partners in an earlier stage. Furthermore, The project will develop new tools and methods. The TENCompetence project will make an inventory of the existing open source programmes and integrate them in one infrastructure. The result will be compared with the functional requirements of users of an infrastructure for life-long-learning and competence development. Wherever necessary, new (open source) programmes will be developed. The ultimate aim is to achieve an infrastructure based on open source, standards-based, sustainable and innovative technology. TENCompetence is a four year project (2006 till 2010) and it involves 13 partners from 9 different countries. For more information about the project please have a look at this page. If you are interested in becoming a partner of the project see this information.
